Currently I'm saving my packages to my dev server under "Encrypt sensitive data with user key" Protection level, but seems like the passwords for the FTP Connection for instance doesn't get saved when I deploy my package to the server.
- These parameters work like variables but can be used at the SSIS package level or the project level. As well, when assigning values to these parameters in the SSIS catalog via an Environment setting, you can choose whether the values assigned to them are sensitive.
- Note that SSIS 2012 lets you to create connection managers at the project level and package level. This is a departure from previous versions, where you could create connection managers at the package level only. The recommended way is to create connection managers at the project level because it ensures that all the packages in a project use the same connection strings during execution
- In SQL Server 2012, Microsoft added project connections to SSIS, allowing for the creation of connections that were accessible across all packages in a project. Instead of having to create a copy of each connection manager in every package, developers can now simply create the connection at the project level. Project connections will automatically show up in the connection manager tray for all
- When I have deployed SSIS packages that use "EncryptSensativeWithPassword" using the Package source of "file system" as soon as I browse to the Package initially or subsequently change "Set values" I would get prompted to enter the password.
